Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” he remarked during a Q&A session.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.
During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
