Helen Mirren To Be Honored With Globes' Cecil B DeMille Award.
The acclaimed British actress Dame Helen, already winner of an Oscar statuette, several BAFTA honors, Golden Globe wins, multiple Emmy accolades, and a Tony, will soon add another prestigious accolade to her shelf: the Cecil B DeMille Golden Globe lifetime honor.
Honors Presentation
Mirren, octogenarian, formerly made a dame during 2003 and made a Bafta fellow back in 2014, will pick up this honor during a presentation on the eighth of January, just prior to the Golden Globes main event take place, during a ceremony promoted by the organization as Golden Eve.
Additionally featuring the bestowal of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett award for small-screen contributions, the honoree for which has yet to be announced. The prior year’s honorees included Viola Davis and Ted Danson.
“Mirren stands as an unstoppable talent, with a career is absolutely remarkable,” said the organization’s president, the Globes’ leader. “Her captivating roles and devotion to her art constantly motivate numerous actors and audiences alike. We are deeply honored to award her the DeMille prize.”
Career Highlights
Helen Mirren became well-known in the 1970s through significant parts in theater in London’s theater district and through the Royal Shakespeare Company and in cinematic works including O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.
During the nineties, her starring role in detective drama Prime Suspect expanded her audience further. Other important films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.
She received an Oscar for her role as Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a role she revisited during 2013 for The Audience, Peter Morgan’s play regarding the encounters involving the monarch and the PM the former PM, a role for which she received a Tony Award during 2015.

- More recent films include Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, for which she provided narration.
- Her performance in the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews and awards buzz is increasing regarding her role as a dying matriarch in Kate Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
- Upcoming, she will appear in the role of Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.
Golden Globe nods are set to be revealed on 8 December, featuring Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet and Coogler’s Sinners likely to receive multiple nominations.
