The original creators behind the well-known ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's has claimed how corporate owner the multinational conglomerate prevented the launch of a new pro-Palestinian ice cream flavor.

Ben Cohen, that co-founded the business alongside his partner, revealed how he will independently develop the controversial flavor within an individual series highlighting issues the company was prevented from addressing publicly.

Longstanding Dispute Involving Founders versus Corporate Owner

The recent development escalates the continuing tension between the internationally recognized dessert company and its corporate parent, the British consumer goods corporation which acquired Ben & Jerry's for over two decades.

Both founders maintain how the parent company along with its ice cream arm Magnum improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's from "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

Watermelon Flavor as an Emblem for Support

The entrepreneur revealed via an Instagram video how he is creating a new watermelon-flavored sorbet, requesting consumer ideas regarding naming options and additional components.

“I'm accomplishing what they couldn't,” the founder stated from his kitchen. “I'm making a watermelon-based frozen dessert that advocates for lasting ceasefire for Palestinians while demanding addressing the harm that was done there.”

The watermelon has emerged as a symbol for support for the Palestinian people because of its coloration, which closely resemble the colors in Palestine's national banner – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Historical Activism plus Recent Developments

Several years ago, the ice cream company ceased sales of its products in areas under Israeli control, resulting in the parent company transferring the Israeli operation to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting ongoing distribution within disputed territories.

This upcoming dessert series is being developed under Ben's Best, the activist ice cream brand that originally created several years back for endorsing former political contender Senator Sanders with the flavor "Bernie's Back".

Management Shifts plus Upcoming Plans

Mr. Cohen revealed how he will create other ice cream flavors that address concerns that Ben & Jerry's was silenced from addressing publicly due to corporate restrictions.

The announcement follows partner Jerry Greenfield resigned from Ben & Jerry's recently, after many years of involvement, mentioning worries regarding how its independence was compromised after Unilever's decision to curb their advocacy work.

At that time, Ben Cohen commented that "Jerry has a really big heart and this conflict with Unilever was deeply distressing him."

"My heart leads me to continue to work inside the company to fight for corporate autonomy so that it can achieve the social mission, the principles which established its foundation and has maintained for over 40 years," he told media outlets.
